A wet weekend in Western Oregon is likely to bring rain to Friday night's Oregon Twilight Meet at Hayward Field, but it won't diminish the quality of some of the distance events.

Even as some of the University of Oregon's top individuals are preparing for next week's Pac-12 Conference Championships, some will use the Twilight as an opportunity to compete, impress and qualify for the postseason.

The spirit of Oregon legend Kenny Moore, who died Wednesday, deserves recognition at the meet, and the distance races, particularly the men's 1,500 meters, looks to be the featured event.

Nike's Cooper Teare, BYU's Casey Clinger, Texas' Crayton Carrozza, Portland's Matt Strangio and Canadian Cameron Proceviat are on the start list.

Carrozza anchored the Longhorns to a victory in the 4xMile last weekend at the Penn Relays. (pictured above).

Teare's training partner, U.S. Olympian Cole Hocker, is pacing the men's 1,500 and appears to be racing the 800 meters against Derek Holdsworth of Bell Lap Athletics, Oregon's Reed Brown and David Cardenas of Adams State.

The women's 1,500 meters features a good matchup between Oregon's Aneta Konieczek and Portland's Laura Pellicoro.

Oregon's Izzy Thornton-Bott is entered in the 800 meters and will face BYU sisers Kate Hunter and Meghan Hunter and also teammate Carly Kleefeld.

The Pilots' Veerle Bakker and Oregon's Malia Pivec are the top entries in the women's 3,000 steeplechase.

Collegiate leader in the hammer throw, Rowan Hamilton of NAIA University of British Columbia, will look to maintain his momentum after a strong showing at the Mt. SAC Relays. STORY by Mary Albl

Oregon training partners Jaida Ross and Mine De Klerk are entered in both the shot put and discus.
